The 3 tan is the lorry most Malaysian household moves end up on. It is big enough for a family flat in one trip and small enough to get into most condo loading bays. Here is what the size actually is, according to the people who rent them out.
Lori 3 tan berapa kaki?
Usually 14 feet. TheLorry, Aidil Movers, Izzat Lori Sewa, Lori Sewa ZD and Morris Ventures all pair 3 tan with a 14 ft box.
Two sources stretch that:
- TheLorry’s 2025 blog posts also list a “3 tan (17 kaki)”, and in the same breath say it is equivalent to a 5 tan.
- lorisewa.com.my gives a 3-ton body length of 14 to 17 ft.
So if a mover quotes a “3 tan” and you care about space, confirm the length. A 17 ft box is about 20% longer than a 14 ft one.

The floor is close to 14 × 7 ft on every source. The two real differences are height (7 ft vs 7.5 ft, which matters for wardrobes and tall fridges) and rated payload (Lalamove’s 14-footer is rated 500 kg lower than the others).
What fits in a 3 tan
TheLorry’s published example load for a 3 tonne is a king bed, a two-door fridge, a six-seater dining table, a wardrobe and a 3+2 sofa set, with boxes around them.
The operators pitch it at:
- Apartments and condos, with or without a lift
- Single-storey terrace houses
- Two- to three-bedroom homes generally
- Small office moves
TheLorry suggests three to four crew for a 3 tonne job. Weight is rarely the limit on a household move — furniture fills space long before it reaches three tonnes. Volume is what sends you to a second trip.
When a 3 tan is not enough
- A double-storey terrace or bigger. Operators tend to move you up to a 17 ft (5 tan) at this point, or quote two trips on a 3 tan. Ask for both prices — see our 5 ton lorry guide.
- A lot of boxes. Book collections, kitchen stock, a hobby room. Count your boxes before you call.
- Very tall items. A 7 ft internal height leaves little room for a wardrobe that doesn’t come apart.
And when it’s too much: a studio or single room fits a 1 tan (10 ft). Paying for a 3 tan to carry a bed and six boxes is money on the floor.
Sewa lori 3 tan: what changes the price
We don’t publish a price table — lori sewa rates move on distance, floors, crew and timing, and a headline figure misleads more than it helps. For reference, one Klang Valley operator’s published 2026 rates (lorisewa.com.my) for 3 tan are from RM250 per trip or RM700 per day. That is one company’s listed rate, not a market average.
What actually moves a 3 tan quote:
- Crew. Driver-only and driver-plus-helpers are different products.
- Trips. Two trips is close to double.
- Access. Stairs, a long carry from the loading bay, or a lift booking that runs over.
- Tailgate. Optional on 3 tan lorries at most operators we checked. Lalamove lists it as an RM75 add-on. Worth it for a piano, safe or big fridge.
- Tolls and waiting time. Ask whether they are in the number.
Before you book a 3 tan
- Ask for the box length in feet and payload in kilograms, not just “3 tan”.
- Ask box body or canvas — box is weatherproof and lockable.
- Ask how many crew and whether they dismantle and reassemble beds and wardrobes.
- Ask what happens if it doesn’t fit in one trip.
